Registration: RainMan (Seattle Sprint Triathlon), March 1 2009

This just looked like too much fun and a nice intersection with where my conditioning should be.

Run by TriFreak.com (there is no good link to the Tri):

  1. 0.25 mile swim — Indoors, 9 laps (18 lengths) or 20 minutes
  2. 8 mile cycle — with your own bike on a trainer calibrated for weight
  3. 2.5 mile run — outside, around Greenlake.

10:00am wave.

$49.15 registration (with Active.com Advantage pricing).

Also renewed my USAT membership, $39.

Baseline of Fitness: Body Fat Analysis

Download now or preview on posterous
20090108-BodyFatAnalysis.pdf (200 KB)

This morning I went through a Body Fat Test, to establish a baseline for what I do in training.
I have not run a 10K (<a href=”http://daemonv.livejournal.com/2007/09/30/“>my first</a>) since 30 September 2007 (<a href=”http://daemonv.livejournal.com/2007/10/01/“>result</a> was that <a href=”http://daemonv.livejournal.com/2007/10/11/“>I hurt myself</a>).
I have not done much training-ride cycling since <a href=”http://flickr.com/photos/dmv/sets/72157607085299471/“>my accident</a>, 9 June 2008 (bike since replaced).  I have not cycled to work in a month (mostly because I have not been in town).  Wow, I sound injury prone.  But I’m not.

So here is today’s “truth”: 228.2 pounds, 26.3% bodyfat — lean mass of 168.6lb.  Base Metabolic Rate of 2157.

<a href=”http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/“>BMI calculator</a> says I have a BMI of 28.9 (“That’s Overweight”).
If I was just lean mass, I would have a BMI of 21.4 — the center of a “normal” weight range (18.5-24.9).  I do not like BMI.

Curious to see what this looks like in 4 months, 8 months, a year.
This is historically on the lower end for me, weight-wise, although I have no previous accurate data on body-fat.
